Shoe Arrival!!!!!!

Greetings Fashionistas and Happy Friday,

Technically my Friday started yesterday (hooray for me) but who's checking besides me :-) Anyhew, I had to show you the arrival of my coveted statement shoe.

It's the Report Signature Dunbarton Jeweled Paneled Platform Sandal that I blogged about a couple months ago. Honestly I forgot all about it until Rue La La had Report Signature on sale and I bought it for over half off it's original price.......sweet!!!!

Lots of jewels on the front side but they're not over the top or gaudy.

They feel really good on and there as comfortable as I hoped......yes!!

Okay friends, I'm gone shopping to enjoy these ridiculous sales.

Let's Max it Out

Greetings Fashionites,

I would be extremely remiss if I didn't do a segment on the eternally classic (and my personal fav summer wardrobe staple)...........the maxi dress.

Distressed denim has really taken the focus off of the maxi this summer season but believe me, it's still a very popular and total must-have for summer. I usually purchase maxi dresses in bright solid colors but this season I'm going to try to branch out into some prints.

Let's take a look below at some of the fab options available now.

Stacey Bendet of Alice and Olivia on Obsessed TV

Greetings Fashion Pad Readers,

I am a fan of Alice and Olivia clothing and so I was stoked to see an interview on Obsessed TV by the founding designer, Stacey Bendet. It was a pretty in depth interview by Sam of Obsessed TV.

In the interview she reveals:

- she designed her own bat mitzvah dress

- hates her toes (who doesn't? I cannot wear sandals w/out a pedicure, lol)

- is BFF with Mena Suvari

- the first pair of pants she shipped to stores didn't fit anyone

- fights with her husband (yes she's real) and has a my way or the highway leadership style

The interview was pretty candid and I think you fashion mavens will enjoy it, especially you aspiring fashion designers.

Enjoy!

2009 BET AWARDS Red Carpet Recap

Greetings Fab Fashionistas,

You know the 2009 BET Awards went down last night at the Shrine Auditorium in Cali and the stars were out in full force to pay tribute to the late great Michael Jackson. I was fine until Janet came onstage then I totally broke down, no lie.
It was an overall great show that literally was done in about 3-4 days so I'm super impressed by the performers and producers of the show. However, you know I just have to highlight the red carpet arrivals so we can analyze. Check out my favs below.

Alicia Keys rocked it out in this sequined mini with her fab Louboutin heels.

Amerie looked super fab in her head to toe Alexander McQueen garb. Love those booties. Amber Rose wore this dress on the red carpet as well (yikes) but I liked Amerie's look a lot more.

Beyonce rocks the predictable sequin dress. But you know she looks great in her Balmain number.

Estelle looks great in this peplum dress. She always brings that unique, and much appreciated style

Keke Palmer looked cute as usual. Didn't know homegirl could sing so well. She tore up MJ's song!!!

Letoya Luckett looked fabulous in her Balmain mini but I'm not really feeling her choice of shoes.

Lisa Raye looked super cute in this sparkly number. Cannot find out for the life of me who made it. Loves it!

Taraji P. Henson killed this black dress. I loved the back, not to sure about her hair though. But she's great.

Terri J. Vaughn wore a simple yet fabulous dress

Wendy Raquel Robinson wore an interesting dress but she pulls it off because she is just such an awesome diva.

Love These Heels!

Greetings Fashion Friends,

I told you guys I really purchased a ton of heels in the past week and here's another pair that I'm showing you guys. It's actually some cage style heels I scooped up at Forever 21.

I've already worn them out to meet up with some classmates and I must say I'm in love with them. They feel great! I was really worried about their wear time (you know, the time it takes to searing foot pain) but I pretty much rocked them all night with no problems. Yeah!

I'm such a horrible shot...whateva, you all get the gist!

I'll post my shoes from Report Signature a little later. I'm about the take my niece and nephews to Wet n' Wild for some fun in the sun.....I've always wanted to say that...he, he, he :-)

MJ - The Legend

Greetings Fashion Pad Readers,

At first, I chose not to highlight the passing of the GREAT and FASHION FORWARD trendsetter, Michael Joseph Jackson. However, as I reminisced on his contribution to music, philanthropy, fashion, humanitarianism, etc., I just had to post a couple of pics.

I have every last Michael Jackson CD and my dance troupe in college used to warm up to his music (as well as Janet's) every day before practice......it NEVER got old. My sister had his albums, t-shirts, dolls, posters, you name it. We loved MJ and was looking forward to his comeback tour, album, and successful integration back onto the music scene.
We here at Fashion Pad would like to salute this legendary icon and definitely highlight his fashion savvy style.

Now that's talent......no formal dance training people

He rocked the heck outta fedoras! My fashion hero!

Who didn't want a fierce red leather jacket???

The white v-neck tee, black pants, white socks, and black hard bottoms was, and still is, legendary. Can't forget that silver glove either.

One of my all time favorite covers.....GQ :-)

We love you Michael, rest in peace!

Sales! Sales! Sales!

Greetings and Happy Friday!

Running super late today, but in the mean time, please enjoy the fabulous deals across the net.
Express' 70% off sale is still in effect:

I'll post a little later :-)

The It Shoe!

Greetings Friends,

I think I've caught the shoe bug, lol. I mean, I have literally purchased about 4 pairs of shoes in the past week. Don't know what's going on. However, when my latest pair arrives from Rue La La, I'll post them for you to see. Yippie!
Oh well, on to more shoes. I really like these Gucci heels that the more "financially able" divas have been spotted rocking lately.

Anna Kournikova recently appeared at the 2009 Destination Fashion Show while Beyonce was spotted heading out of Heathrow airport

Jenny McCarthy sported her pair on stage while Rihanna was rocking her pewter pair while leaving her hotel in NYC.

I really think all of Hollywood has a pair. They're the Iman Triple Ankle Strap sandals. They're apart of Gucci's Spring/Summer 2009 collection. Anyhew, I went to the Gucci store here on Sunday to try them on and up close, they look frighteningly like a monster of a shoe...seriously! They are huge and chunky, truly a statement shoe. However, for me, they lost their appeal but the style itself I still covet. Thus, here I have selected some looks for less because this shoe will definitely set you back a couple of paychecks, lol.

Gucci Iman Triple Ankle Strap Sandal
$854.00 (on sale, originally $1275.00)

Bevans Strappy Heel

Jordin Heel $69.99 (on sale) www.bakersshoes.com

Strap Platform Heel $39.50 http://www.lulus.com/

Fashion Offerings at Karmaloop

Greetings Fashion Divas,

Yesterday we took a look at some of Karmaloop's shoe offerings and today I want to highlight some of their clothing items. I just have to give them some props because I totally thought they were just urban wear and all I was going to find was Akademiks, Baby Phat, Apple Bottoms, LRG, etc.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not against urban wear, it's just not my style. With that being said, let's take a look at this lovely mix of styles on Karmaloop's site.

The Nataliaz Strapless Dress by BB Dakota $50.00
Cute and affordable little black dress. Love the subtle, poofy hemline paired with the sweetheart neckline.

The Havana Pant $34.00
Now these loose fitting cargo pants will work well for that summer heat.

The Burke Sun Dress $46.00
You know I love the bright, rich color of this fun summer frock.

The Light Feather Tee by Whitehorse Couture $76.00
This tee is a little pricey but I love the 70s inspired design.

The Coral Tank by RVCA $36.00
This cool tank is made out of a thin jersey material. A bra is not an option so pasties unite!!!
